Day (weekday) in the life of a software engineer in the US.

7:05 AM - Wake up - Brush teeth - drop child / children in Bus stop or school.

7:45 AM - Back Home - log into Internet - check cnn, samachar, cricinfo, deals2buy, vaartha, IMDB, emails and importantly bank Account and credit card account.

8:45 AM - Shower, eat Cereal and milk and start for work.

9:15 AM - On the way to work use reliance or airtel to call India and tell them how busy work is and how only driving time is used to talk back to India.

9:45 AM - Arrive at work and slowly setup the laptop and start logging in.

10:15 Finish checking work email, ensure no S&^% is hitting the roof.

10:20 AM - Coffee Time.

10:45 AM - Back @ desk check cnn, samachar, cricinfo, deals2buy, vaartha, IMDB, emails, bank accounts (hoping for some mysterious increase in the balance) and credit card account.

11:00 AM - Start and finish up some of the work related tasks assigned and shoot off 1000 emails about how well these jobs was completed and 1000 emails with questions regarding the ones not completed.

12:00 Noon - Start for home to go and have lunch prepare by walking by your boss's office to see if he or she has noticed anything unwanted during the day.If he notices you engage in small IT talk and complain about how much burden the work has become off late.

12:15 PM - have lunch and watch some Zee Tv, Sony, Gemini TV or Sun TV as the case may be.

1:30 PM - Back @ office desk Finish checking work email, ensure no S&^% is hitting the roof.

1:45 PM - check cnn, samachar, cricinfo, deals2buy, emails,vaartha, IMDB, bank accounts (hoping for some mysterious increase in the balance) and credit card account.

2:30 PM - Print off any coupons, pictures of kids and family, more manuals and go for coffee.

3:00 PM - Send off some more emails asking for clarifications on task uncompleted @ work - making presence felt.

3:30 PM - check cnn, samachar, cricinfo, deals2buy, emails,vaartha, IMDB, bank accounts (hoping for some mysterious increase in the balance) and credit card account - Not necessarily in that order.

4:00 PM - prepare for going home, walk by your boss's office to see if he or she has noticed anything unwanted during the day. If he notices you engage in small IT talk and complain about how much burden the work has become off late.

4:30 PM - Praise the flex time US has to offer. Leave with a feeling of triumph - If it were not for this dedication and commitment this company and this whole US economy would sink and die.

5:30 PM - Reach home - drink tea watch some Zee Tv, Sony, Gemini TV or Sun TV as the case may be.

6:30 PM - Login and check cnn, samachar, cricinfo, deals2buy, emails,vaartha, IMDB, bank accounts (hoping for some mysterious increase in the balance) and credit card account - Not necessarily in that order.

6:45 PM - show up at the local tennis court with ragged shirt, ragged shots and a pre second world war sneakers and a tennis / racketball racket which ever is available.

7:00 PM - After 15 mins of Strenuous tennis - go to local Indian Store / Walmart - pick up everything that's on sale Benchmark - Should be priced under a dollar, regular price should be over 50 dollars, Doesn't matter if its needed or not. Once done call call the desi network to report out the triumphant strike.

7:30 PM - Receive a call from work regarding one clarification.

7:35 PM - Finish the call and complain all evening about how hard life is here and If it were not for this dedication and commitment this company and this whole US economy would sink and die.

8:30 PM - Have dinner of 6 Chappatis, frozen vegetables, sambar and rice.

9:30 PM - Log into work network - send out some random email, making sure the timestamp is visible for all to see. Leave any work IM service that may be available to demonstrate dedication and hard work. - While watching TV.

10:00 PM - Check cnn, samachar, cricinfo, deals2buy, emails,vaartha, IMDB, bank accounts (hoping for some mysterious increase in the balance) and credit card account - Not necessarily in that order - While watching TV.

11:00 PM - Call all friends and have a discussions about plans for the weeknd, how life stinks in the US and how wonderful parents had it back home in India. Also, discuss possibility off returning to India after making another 'n' number of dollars and complain about the declining dollar value.

11:30 PM Turn in for the day - satisfied.
